As I sit typing this post, I have this hero product slathered on every inch of my face, acting like a mask to smooth out my complexion, take down redness and bumps caused by Acne Rosacea - as well as compensating for my lack of water consumption over the day (probably should not be used a substitute for drinking throughout the day though!)
Clinique's Moisture Surge - Extended Thirst Relief | £32.00 per 50ml
It's cool to the skin, plumping and my faces instantly relaxes when this has been applied over the last few nights, which is when I have rediscovered its fabulous effects.
Why hadn't I been using this before? I had forgotten how good it was in comparison to my current night cream, I used it initially as a one off mask, and then thought i've got to do this every night!
My skin just needed something, and this is like water. My skin drinks it up and loves me for it in the morning.
Quite possibly the best counter lady who has ever walked this earth, (prepare for the name drop...) Essie who works for Clinique as a Clinical Dermatologist on a Clinique counter in Bluewater Shopping Mall in Kent, recommended this product to me after I had been using acid based exfoliants on my face on recommendation from my doctor, when I was about 18 - before anyone thought I had acne rosacea, so he gave me acne medicated products instead. It caused my skin to peel, just the same as when I had used Vitamin A based product Retin-A. My face peeled in patches to the point where my skin was burning and uncomfortable. But if it's on a doctors recommendation you keep applying right? All I wanted was new skin at this point.
What had happened is that my skin was ultra sensitive, it still is, in fact it's sensitive to any Salicylic Acids or Retinols (fyi if you have Acne Rosacea, or Rosacea alone, don't use anything with these ingredients!) My skin was in need of some big time TLC.
Essie whipped out this miracle thirst relief product and told me to use as a mask as soon as I got home. It was bliss, and of course I stopped using the prescription product that had peeled my face alive.
I am definitely investing in another tub of this hero product, as it always comes in handy, especially for sunburns. I think this will be my 3rd tub purchased, but a little goes a long way with this. Since I discovered HyaluronicAcid, and it's hydrating properties, I forgot about this kind of hydration product, but I am pleased I have rediscovered.
With Clinique I am never able to find a clear and accessible list of product ingredients on their site (anyone else find this annoying?) or on the product itself as they are normally on the box you throw away. I found the ingredients on CosDNA here, as expected not really any nasty irritants in this product, but never underestimate the importance of the ingredients list!
